We've all been anxiously waiting to find out what the school districts would decide for the 2020-21 school year. Many schools have decided to start virtually or with Non Traditional Instruction and many have also decided to push back start dates as well. Which makes things challenging for many families. This list of resources, child care and camps will be continually updated as more information and more options becomes available:
Camps and Childcare
The Kentucky Science Center

The Kentucky Science Center is offering School's Out Camp for ages 4 and up Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm. The Kentucky Science Center has continued to provide a healthy and safe environment for all campers and families; with wellness screenings, social distancing measures, limited class sizes, disinfection and sanitation protocols for the staff and facility. At this time The Kentucky Science Center is offering week long camps until August 7th and day camps starting August 10th. NTI camp will be announced soon. Hwang's Martial Arts

With both JCPS and Oldham county now offering NTI and E-learning, let Hwangs Martial Arts provide a lending hand. We are proud to announce that Hwangs Martial Arts will be offering a safe and reliable option that will both allow your children to progress and learn the necessary school material while at the same time providing all day camp, physical activity and fun. Our all day school camp will provide supervised eLearning, physical activities, and child care. With drop off available as early as 7:30am and pick up as late as 6pm, this will allow parents to focus on work without worrying about interruptions! Kentucky Gymnastics Academy

Kentucky Gymnastics Academy is offering 1/2 day and full day NTI work sessions for Kindergarten through 12th grade. You can choose anywhere from 1 day a week up to 5 days a week. The half day program runs from 8am-12pm, the full day program runs from 8am-2:30 pm with the additional option to stay and play. Frazier History Museum

Frazier History Museum is offering a program called NTI from the Frazier. They have put together a safe, socially-distanced NTI experience that will run from August 31st through October 2nd for grades 2-9. The Frazier will be providing daily care in a sanitary, professionally staffed environment from 9am-4pm during the week for small groups of students. Frazier educators will be on hand to help answer questions, assist with technology, make sure that each student has a successful NTI experience and most of all facilitate fun in a familiar environments with breaks and end of day activities in the galleries. Students must bring their own laptop or other devide, earphones, school supplies and lunch.

Jewish Community Center

The Jewish Community Center is a trusted place for families by providing summer camps for 100 years. Currently The Jewish Community Center is hosting both traditional and specialty summer camps that will end on August 7th with the following 2 weeks as post camp. Post camp registration is listed on their website. For this school year The Jewish Community center is providing Camp J 365 as an NTI program. Students will bring their own device and The J will accommodate any NTI program and schedule needs as well as host activities and subjects such as art, drama, music, swim lessons and physical education (all included). Camp J 365 will be available for kids K-5th grade and availability for 6-8th grade. The J utilizes healthy at work/ healthy at camp guidelines as well as frequent sanitation. Details about the Camp J 365 program and registration coming soon.
The J will also be available for tutoring services for grades Kindergarten through 12th grade at an hourly rate.

Introducing The Forest Learning Lab!
At the Forest Learning Lab, non-traditional instruction meets the non-traditional classroom of Beckley Creek Park and its forests, meadows, and aquatic habitats! Led by Parklands Interpretive Rangers - all of whom are trained educators and scientists - the Forest Learning Lab offers students a structured day of non-traditional instruction, homework help, and outdoor exploration time. Classes are held almost entirely outdoors each day to provide a safe, engaging environment for your child to thrive during NTI. To best accommodate educational needs, Forest Learning Lab groups are limited to 1st-3rd grade students and 4th-6th grade students.
Forest Learning Lab sessions are offered weekly from August 25 through October 16. To make NTI as flexible as possible, parents can enroll kids in a full week or select single days that best fit their schedule. To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, extra safety procedures will be in place and group size is extremely limited.

Drop-off is from 8-8:30 a.m. and pick-up is from 3:30 - 4 p.m. Each day, participants will need to bring a lunch, snack, water bottle, mask, headphones and learning device (tablet, laptop or smartphone).
We know things can change fast during this pandemic, so we are offering a no-risk enrollment policy. If Forest Learning Lab is delayed or cancelled, you will receive a full refund. Group size is extremely limited, so we encourage you to sign up today!

Pandemic Pods, Nanny Share, Community Programs
Nanny Pair

Nanny Pair, a local nanny agency is offering a School Nanny (childcare + teacher) and School Share (School Nanny + Nanny Share) for families that are looking for help with NTI this school year. Both plans offer a customized plan outlining a typical school day for kiddos and typically begins at 9am and ends at 3pm. (6 hours per day) Monday - Friday with the ability to add hours before and after "school" if needed at a predetermined hourly rate.
Important Note: If you have another family (or more!) who would like to join your family for a School Share then Nanny costs would be significantly discounted. The more families (up to 5 kiddos) equate a bigger savings!

We have three classrooms available to rent. Each classroom will be available to rent in 4-hour time blocks.

$50 rental fee per session. This is solely a rental space. The renter is repsonsible for providing his/her instructor & supplies. The classrooms are adjoined by a lobby and 1 shared restroom.

Its 2-3 families working together to make your needs work for NTI or childcare. Some are choosing to have a parent work with NTI, other pods are choosing to hire a nanny or tutor for NTI support.

Snapology

Snapology of Louisville Northeast is providing virtual options and will most likely host in person instruction at the Jewish Community Center. Exact times, dates and subjects are currently being developed.
Virtual options will include live instructors with real time interaction and teaching. Many programs require things that people have either laying around the house or lego bricks. Some programs are more detailed for engineering or robotics with student kits. There will be a multitude of subjects offered.

Best In Class Louisville Southeast

Intensify Your NTI program Best In Class Louisville SE to provide a place and time for kids to work on their NTI with a tutor available for guidance. Plans are underway but tentatively 2-3 hr sessions, 1-5 times a week (not sure if morning or afternoon yet) with interactive instruction, wifi, and printing available. Kids would bring their devices or provide logins to print their physical work. It will be a drop off program so parents do not have to stay. Limit of 10 students.

The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA or Act) from the U.S. Department of Labor requires certain employers to provide employees with paid sick leave or expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. The Department of Labor’s (Department) Wage and Hour Division (WHD) administers and enforces the new law’s paid leave requirements. These provisions will apply from the effective date through December 31, 2020.
Qualifying Reasons for Leave:
Under the FFCRA, an employee qualifies for paid sick time if the employee is unable to work (or unable to telework) due to a need for leave because the employee:
is subject to a Federal, State, or local quarantine or isolation order related to COVID-19;
has been advised by a health care provider to self-quarantine related to COVID-19;
is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms and is seeking a medical diagnosis;
is caring for an individual subject to an order described in (1) or self-quarantine as described in (2);
is caring for a child whose school or place of care is closed (or child care provider is unavailable) for reasons related to COVID-19; or
is experiencing any other substantially-similar condition specified by the Secretary of Health and Human Services, in consultation with the Secretaries of Labor and Treasury.
Under the FFCRA, an employee qualifies for expanded family leave if the employee is caring for a child whose school or place of care is closed (or child care provider is unavailable) for reasons related to COVID-19.
