The Louisville Zoo was scheduled to open a brand new sloth exhibit spring of 2020. Unfortunately the Covid-19 closures have put a damper on those plans for now. However, it is so exciting finding out more about it!
We get to meet one year old male Sebastian and one and a half year old female Sunni, soon to be introduced in the South America zone by the Chilean flamingos! These Linneaus’s two toed sloths are arboreal mammals from the South America forest canopy. Sloths are known for being very slow moving. Sloths eat leaves, fruit and flowers, but their slow metabolism takes about 30 days to fully digest what they eat.
The Louisville Zoo will be offering a meet and greet opportunity with the sloths for $95 per person, zoo admission not included. More information and features will be announced soon.
